Sarah Bennett has been a playwright and actress since she was ten years old, growing up in the small town of Lake Elsinore, California. She helped found the drama department of her high school as well as taking an active role in writing and performing. After graduating she was invited by her former drama teacher to write musicals for the department. She wrote, directed, and produced three musicals for the school district as well as several melodramas and variety shows for the Elsinore Woman’s Club and Historical Society.
In 2003, Sarah took her passion to the next level and founded the Ophelia Theatre Group. Sarah produced, directed and often performed in the various types of shows the group offered their community throughout the years, including several of her original works.
After many years of continuous success on the west coast she decided that the group was ready for the next big step and announced that she would be moving the company to New York. At the beginning of 2011 many core members made the move, and to date, fifteen of Ophelia’s members have relocated from California, continuing their devotion to the group’s productions. It is her privilege and pleasure to continue to lead this special group of artists.
